US official to discuss political issue of South Asia

    KATHMANDU, April 18 (Xinhuanet) -- US Secretary of State for South Asia Christina Rocca, who is arriving in India on Monday, will hold consultations on the evolving political situation in South Asia, chiefly Bangladesh and Nepal, local media reported here Monday.

    "The only information I have is that she is arriving here tomorrow," spokesman of US Embassy to India David Kennedy told Nepali reporters through telephone.

    Kennedy did not elaborate, neither confirmed whether Rocca willvisit Dhaka and Kathmandu as widely speculated here.

    The United States and India have been closely monitoring the developments in Nepal after King Gyanendra's takeover of power on Feb. 1. Enditem
