NICOSIA, April 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat was set to win the presidential elections in the breakaway Turkish Cypriot state, partial results showed Sunday.

With three-quarters of ballots counted, pro-unity Talat won about 55 percent of the vote, against 22 percent for his nearest rival, Dervis Eroglu, who has opposed a UN plan for reunification of divided Cyprus. Enditem
