CAIRO, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has arrived at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh Saturday to begin a two-day visit during which he will meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a Palestinian official said. The Palestinian ambassador to Egypt Zohdy Kedraa told Xinhua over phone that Abbas will discuss on Sunday morning with Mubarak the reasons and consequences of Israel's delay in implementing Sharm el-Sheikh understandings which was reached at a Feb. 8summit.

"Up until now, Israel has done nothing about what we reached in Sharm el-Sheikh and continued surrounding and killing our people," he added.

Egypt has intensified mediation efforts between the Palestinians and Israel since the death of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in a bid to help restart the long-stalled Middle East peace process, hosting the Sharm el-Sheikh summit between Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Abbas was reported to visit Jordan for talks with King AbdullahII after his trip to Egypt. Enditem
