     QUITO, April 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Ecuadoran President Lucio Gutierrez declared a state of emergency in the capital on Friday and sacked members of the country's Supreme Court following mass protests against recent judicial reforms.

    The emergency declaration empowers the government to take extraordinary measures to quell unrest in Quito and the province of Pichincha. Enditem
