BAGHDAD, April 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A US military tank was set ablaze Wednesday when a roadside bomb detonated in eastern Baghdad, witnesses said.

The blast occurred at 8:45 a.m. (0545 GMT) on the main al-Qanat area in eastern Baghdad, close to the Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City.

A plume of black smoke rose into the sky as the tanker which was believed to carry inflammable cargo flared up.

The US military had no information about the incident.

In a separate incident, a car bomb exploded in western Baghdad at a US military convoy, wounding one person, Lieutenant Haider Salman told Xinhua.

"A car with the bomb was parking on the side of the main road in Khadra district and detonated as the US military convoy passed by," Salman said.   Enditem
