BRUSSELS, April 12 (Xinhuanet) -- The Dutch airline KLM has announced that it will start screening the passenger lists of all flights which pass through United States airspace, Radio Netherlands reported Tuesday.
This measure is designed to detect people appearing on the US
government's list of terror suspects. Passengers appearing on the lists will not
be allowed on KLM flights, it said.
The airline says that it wants to prevent its planes from being
turned back at the last moment.
On Friday night, a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight to Mexico carrying
278 passengers was denied right to entering US airspace and forced to return to
Amsterdam Schiphol airport because of two suspected terrorists on board from
Saudi Arabia.
Previously KLM only screened passengers flying to the United States,
not those flying over the country. Enditem |
