Chinese premier urges Japan to treat history correctly

    NEW DELHI, April 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese premier Wen Jiabao Tuesday urged Japan to treat history correctly.

    During a meeting with Indian press at the end of his four-day visit to India, Wen said, only a nation respects the history, takes responsibilities for past history and wins over the trust of the Asian and world people could it take greater responsibilities in the international community.

    "The core of Sino-Japanese relations is that Japan should treat history correctly," Wen noted.

    He said Japan waged aggression war in last century, which has brought pain to the people of China, Asia, as well as the world. Recent large-scale demonstrations and protests have occurred in China and some Japan's neighboring countries targeting on Japan's attempt to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

    "The strong responses from the Asian people should make the Japanese authorities to have deep and profound reflections," Wen said.

    He said the two sides should learn from history and face up to the future to continue to develop the relationship between China and Japan.  Enditem
