BAGHDAD, April 12 (Xinhuanet) -- A car bomb blew up Monday night in Samarra, north of Baghdad, killed three Iraqis and wounded 26 others, including four US soldiers, the US military said on Tuesday.
"A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated in Samarra about 8 p.m. (1700 GMT) April 11," The military said in a statement.
The blast killed three Iraqi citizens and wounded another 26, including four Task Force Liberty soldiers, the statement added.
One wounded soldier was evacuated to a military medical treatment facility while the other three who were slightly wounded had returned to duty, it said.
Samarra, about 120 km north of Baghdad and situated on the bank of the Tigris river, has been a bastion of the insurgency over the past two years. Enditem |
