KATHMANDU, April 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States has again recalled its Ambassador from Kathmandu to access the current situation in Nepal, a local newspaper reported Monday.
US ambassador James F. Moriarty, who has already reached in Washington, told correspondents there, if fundamental rights were not restored in Nepal by next week, the US assistance to Nepal would be stopped, vernacular daily Nepal Samacharpatra reported.
Nepal's condition will be very serious if US military assistance is suspended, Moriarty said.
He added that constitutional independence, release of politicalprisoners and access to political parties were US concerns.
On Feb. 1, Nepalese King Gyanendra dissolved the previous government, constituted a new Council of Ministers under his own chairmanship and imposed a state of emergency throughout the kingdom.
The US government recalled Ambassador Moriarty a few days later following the king's takeover of power in order to access the situation in Nepal. Enditem
