Death toll of Cairo bombing rises to 4

CAIRO, April 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A Frenchman wounded in Thursday's blast in Cairo died while being flown back to France for treatment, bringing the toll of the attack to four, the French Embassy in Cairo said Sunday.

Egyptian authorities previously reported that the blast in an open-air market in Cairo's Old City killed three people, including a French woman, an American man and an unidentified body who is suspected by the police to be the bomber.

Egyptian Prosecutor-General Maher Abdel Wahed said Saturday that initial investigations showed the explosion was an individual act.

"The investigations have proven that this was the act of an individual, not a group," Wahed told reporters at a press conference, without revealing further details.

The prosecutor also said no one can make any speculation and everyone must wait for the outcome of the investigations, stressing that the investigations will continue.

However, in an Internet posting on Friday, a previously unknown Islamist group claimed it was behind the bombing. Enditem
