HANOI, April 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The first thing that makes an impression on you when entering Vietnam, either northern capital city Hanoi or southern Ho Chi Ming City, maybe is the traffic.
Wherever you look, motorbikes, motorbikes and motorbikes, too.
Galloping Honda, Daelim, Minsk and so on, always flash both into your eyes and
by your body side.
Vietnam has the world's highest rate of motorbikes per capita, which
means there must be three motorbikes in every family. So it is not surprisingly
that its traffic is considered to be dangerous.
Even so, the nicest way to explore the country is still on a
motorbike. If you were a foreign tourist without a fixed schedule for your trip,
motorbike would be the most particular way to discover Vietnam.
Normally it is not a big issue for the passenger to hire a motorbike.
Instead, the driver may hire you first with "you, motorbike?" That's the call
sounds through Vietnam's streets day and night.
Using a motorbike has many advantages. It's not only the quickest
solution but also one of the cheapest. When there is traffic, it is difficult
for taxi to move, but motorbike taxi can easily thread their way through.
To avoid a dustup, it is necessary to negotiate the price for a ride
in advance either you pay by the distance or hour. With a definite distance, a
motorbike driver may give you a price that is "up to heaven", so a passenger has
to "pull the price back the earth".
You can spend all the time just looking around, gazing and breathing
the fresh air. The most important is that you would enjoy a Vietnamese feeling,
as the vehicle is an essential part of Vietnamese everyday life.
As most drivers speak good English and often French, riding the
motorbike is also a good way to get in touch with the locals. Or you can use
sign language and a map to "talk with" the driver. Many of the drivers have been
doing the job for ages.
By talking with them you can find out lots about how life and traffic
have changed in their country. Most of the drivers are happy to be a free guide
for the passenger. Freely accepting all the "sweet talk" is part of the fun of
being footloose in a foreign city.
Aside from places of interest around the cities, you can also be
driven to airplane booking offices or somewhere else you like. Besides, some
motorbike driver can still offer some fixed service like taking you to your
office if you are working in Vietnam, and delivering goods for local people.
Since traveling by bus has not developed strongly yet in Ho Chi Minh
City, this kind of transport has become more popular than before. The same
situation happens in other cities in Vietnam, too.
It is Vietnam's "hugging vehicle". The name came from you must sit
close to the driver, almost hugging him. Enditem |
