| GAZA, April 9 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior leader of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) on Saturday denied media reports saying that the group was no longer committed to the ceasefire following a deadly Gaza killing.
Mohamed al Hindi, a senior Jihad leader in Gaza, said at a news conference that the group is still sticking to the Cairo Declaration which struck a conditional truce with Israel, denying reports that Jihad would not abide by the ceasefire.
Earlier, Abu Abdallah, a member of Saraya al Quds, Jihad's armed wing, told reporters that Jihad decided not to follow the Hudna, or the ceasefire, that 13 Palestinian factions and militant groups agreed upon in Cairo last month.
He also said Jihad will immediately revenge the Israeli killing of three Palestinian teenage boys in the town of Rafah near the borderline between the southern Gaza Strip and Egypt earlier on Saturday.
Hindi, however, said it is not necessary that the vision of Saraya al Quds has to be the same with that of the political bureau of the Jihad, adding the political bureau of Jihad "is still committed to the ceasefire."
Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) vowed on Saturday to revenge on the deadly Gaza shooting.
The shooting is the first incident that Israeli troops sprayed gunfire at Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since a conditional ceasefire was declared in an inter-Palestinian dialogue held in Cairo in mid March. Enditem |
