Maintenance on key cultural relics in Tibet begins

    BEIJING, April 9 -- Projects to maintain Tibet's Potala Palace and Norbulingka Park have begun as the weather is turning warm on entering the Spring. Lang Jie, deputy director of the Three Key Cultural Relics Maintenance Office, said this year was the most important year in the maintenance of Tibet's three key cultural relics.

    According to Lang Jie many projects of the program to maintain the Potala Palace, Norbulingka Park and Shajia Monastery are concentrated in this year. Much investment will be involved. The program to maintain the three cultural relics has planned to finish 69 projects and investment of more than 100 million yuan this year.

    Lang Jie said some key projects of the maintenance program would also be completed in this year. The maintenance of the White Palace and the Stupa of the fifth Dalai Lama is the key of the maintenance of the Potala Palace. These two projects will be completed within the year.
