Industrial injury insurance to safeguard 75 mln workers
www.chinaview.cn 2005-04-07 20:45:05

GUANGZHOU, April 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Vice Minister of Labor and Social Security Wang Dongjin said here Thursday that China will continue popularize the industrial injury insurance to safeguard at least 75 million workers this year.

Speaking at the national industrial injury insurance conference in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, the official said miners and construction workers are still the major beneficiary groups of this kind of insurance.

Wang said as the high-risk industry, all the large and medium state-owned coal mines should buy the industrial injury insurance for the workers.

The official said the Ministry of Labor and Social Security will work to complete the policies related to the industrial injury insurance.

Wang said many companies in China's developed southern and eastern parts neglect the industrial injury prevention for their workers.

Aiming to change the situation, the State Council issued the industrial injury insurance regulations on Jan. 1, 2004. About 68.5 million people were working under the safeguard of the insurance by the end of the last year. Enditem
