NEW DELHI, April 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Four people were injured Thursday when guerrillas hurled a grenade in Jammu and Kashmir's Pattan town, immediately after the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus had crossed the area, Indo-Asian News Service reported.
Police said the incident took place in the afternoon. Four civilians were hurt and one has been brought to Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Pattan is on the Srinagar-Uri highway, 30 km north of Srinagar in Baramulla district.
Guerrillas had targeted the Trans-border Kashmir bus, which was flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Srinagar, earlier in the day as well when they fired a rifle grenade at the vehicle. That incident took place near Singhpora village, 22 km from Srinagar, again in Baramulla district.
However, police said the rifle grenade was fired from a distance much beyond the range of the weapon and failed to cause any damage.
And before that, a bomb had exploded in Sopore town, about eight km from the highway on which the bus was supposed to ply.
The incidents come a day after a daring attack on the Srinagar tourist reception center, in which the passengers of the bus were housed. The center was razed and two militants were killed in the attack. Enditem |
