SRINAGAR (India), April 7, (Xinhuanet) -- The first bus which took 21 Kashmiri
passengers from here to the Pakistani-administered Kashmir capital Muzaffarabad
rolled off at 11:00 a.m. after IndianPrime Minister Manmohan Singh flagged off
the ceremony on Thursday.
"This is the time we have waited for a long time. The
road thathas been closed is now open," the prime minister told 2,000 peoplein
the city center's stadium where the bus left for Muzaffarabad.
The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus will link the divided
halves of Kashmir for the first time in nearly six decades. It marks a historic
milestone in the India-Pakistan ties that have been marked by decades of
hostility over divided Kashmir. Enditem |
