NEW DELHI, April 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A bomb exploded Thursday in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town, about eight km from a highway on which the trans-Kashmir is set to ply, officials said.

Soldiers also detected an explosive device at Pattan town, 29 km from Srinagar and close to the same Srinagar-Uri highway. Sopore is located 54 km from Srinagar, the province's summer capital.

The explosion and detection were made just before Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was to inaugurate the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service Thursday. Enditem
