กก WASHINGTON, April 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States condemned on Wednesday the attack taking place on a complex housing passengers for Thursday's inaugural bus service in Srinagar in the India-heldKashmir.

"The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms theApril 6 attack on the bus complex in Srinagar. This was a wanton act of terror on a powerful symbol of rapprochement between India and Pakistan," the State Department said in a statement.

"Ordinary Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control strongly support this bus line that will restore linkage between them since 1947. We must not allow attempts to frustrate their hopes to succeed," the statement said.

Terrorists stormed Wednesday a complex housing passengers set to take the Kashmir bus service, sparking a huge fire and a fiery gun battle that left both attackers dead.

The bus service between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar, the respective headquarters of Pakistan-controlled and India-controlled Kashmirs, will begin on Thursday, which is considered the major confidence-building measure between the two arch rivals.Enditem
