RIYADH, April 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Two senior members of al-Qaida terror network have been killed in clashes with Saudi security forces in the north of the kingdom, the al-Arabiya TV channel reported on Monday.

The dead were identified as Abdulkarim al-Mejjati and Saud Homoud al-Oteibi. They were on a list of 26 most wanted militant suspects published by the Saudi government in December 2003.

Earlier in the day, the Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement that seven militants suspected of linking with al-Qaida terror group have been killed.

"Seven al-Qaida suspects were killed in the clash in Al-Rass in the Al-Qassim region, some 320 km north of Riyadh," the statement said.

It said that some security men were slightly wounded.

A spate of bombings and shootings blamed on al-Qaida have killed 90 civilians in Saudi Arabia since May 2003, according to official figures.

Many of the attacks have targeted Westerners. Enditem
