RAMALLAH, April 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The families of the Palestinians who were deported by Israel from the Church of Nativity in 2002 to Spain organized on Monday a sit-in to protest the Spanish government's intention to prosecute their sons.
The families said that Spain's anti-terrorism court has summoned three Palestinians who were exiled to Spain by Israel for questioning.
The families considered the new investigations with their sons are a part of the pressures imposed on them by the Spanish authorities considering responding to the Israeli pressures.
The families, meanwhile, complained of ignorance on the deal's conditions, based on which their sons were deported to Spain.
Israeli army troops had stormed the West Bank city of Bethlehem three years ago and seized the Church of Nativity, where Palestinian residents and militants stayed in the church.
An agreement was signed by late leader Yasser Arafat, its content still unknown till now, led to exile 40 Palestinians from the church to Gaza Strip and European countries. Enditem |
