BEIJING, April 4 -- Eighty-eight Chinese companies have been listed in Forbes 2000, the ranking of the world's leading companies.

Xinhua news agency reports that the US-based Citibank ranks first on the list, which is measured by the sales, profits, assets and market value of the companies.

Petro China ranks fifty-seven, the highest among listed Chinese companies, while Sinopec ranks ninety-fourth.

Six other Chinese companies are among the best five hundred, including China Mobile and Hutchison Whampoa.

Xinhua says the result will be published in the latest edition of Forbes magazine. Enditem
