DHAKA, April 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Diarrhoea has broken out in 18 out of 64 districts of Bangladesh as well as the capital Dhaka, with some 1,000 fresh patients admitted to hospitals on Saturday.

According to the New Age on Sunday, among the 1,000 patients, mostly children, 544 were admitted to different hospitals and health complexes in 17 districts in the northern region, while the International Center for Diarrhea Diseases & Research Bangladesh (ICDDRB) in Dhaka alone received over 400 sufferers in the last oneday on Saturday.

The control room under the health directorate said in the last one month some 18,238 people were afflicted by diarrhoea and admitted to different hospitals and health complexes all over the country.

Fortunate enough, there are only two cases of death in the outbreak of diarrhoea in the past one month, the director of disease control in the health directorate Dr Badrunnahar said, adding that the situation is "totally under control" as diarrhoea has not taken an epidemic form.

Badrunnahar said there is nothing to be worry about since the country has huge medicine stock, but people should be careful to avoid being affected. Enditem
