UN urges Sudan to cooperate in trying Darfur suspects
www.chinaview.cn 2005-04-03 12:00:36

BEIJING, Apr. 3 -- The United Nations has called for full cooperation by the Sudanese government in implementing the UN Security Council Resolution 1593.

The Resolution was adopted on Thursday to refer war crimes suspects in Sudan's Darfur region to the International Criminal Court.

Spokeswoman of the top U.N. envoy to Sudan said that officials of the criminal court will visit Sudan in near future to try to start consultation with Sudanese government.

Earlier, Sudan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Najeeb al-Kheir Abdul Wahab, said the resolution will complicate what he has called an already complicated situation, adding that the move undermines the Government's quest for justice through reconciliation.
