ADDIS ABABA, March 30 (Xinhuanet)
-- The Israeli ambassador to Ethiopia Doron Grossman was found shot in the
head Tuesday evening in his apartment at Addis Ababa's Hilton Hotel.
The Ethiopian security
officials confirmed the incident was not a "terrorist attack," saying the
ambassador had tried to commit suicide.
An Ethiopian Foreign Ministry official, who declined to be
named, said the ambassador was immediately taken to the
Hayat hospital where he received treatment for the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, hospital sources said the ambassador was seriously injured
and is expected to get better treatment in his home country.
According
to the official, Doron Grossman has left the Horn of Africa
country for home. Ethiopian security officials, who
visited the ambassador in the hospital, said Grossman was alive until he left
the country on Wednesday around 6:00 p.m. local time.
Grossman, who was about to leave his post after being appointed
ambassador to South Africa, was serving in Ethiopia for the last three years.
