Urgent: Annan urges his son to cooperate with oil-for-food investigators

    UNITED NATIONS, March 29 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Tuesday urged his son, Kojo Annan, who was implicated in the oil-for-food corruption scandal, to cooperate fully with the investigative panel.

    At a press conference, Annan said the panel's second interim report released earlier in the day had exonerated him, but he accepted the panel's criticism over his failure to detect and prevent a conflict of interest posed by his son, employed by a UN contractor.

    Annan also reiterated that he will not resign and will continue to push his ambitious plan to reform the United Nations. Enditem
