PNA appeals to UN on Israel's settlement expansion

RAMALLAH, March 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei said Tuesday that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) has sent a letter to the UN Security Council on Israel's plan of settlement expansion.

Qurei told reporters before a cabinet meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah that the PNA will not be silent for the Israeli attempt.

Last week, media reports revealed that Israel plans to build 3,500 new homes on occupied West Bank land in a residential complex linking a Jewish settlement to Jerusalem.

The Palestinians want the West Bank and the Gaza Strip for an independent state with East Jerusalem as the capital.

Qurei slammed the settlement expansion as the Israeli attempt to Judaize Jerusalem. Enditem
