BEIJING, Mar. 28 -- The acrobatic ballet Swan Lake made its debut Friday evening at the Shanghai Grand Theatre, winning great applause from the audience.

Staged by the Guangzhou Soldiers Acrobatics Troupe, the play is a combination of the ballet classic Swan Lake and traditional Chinese acrobatics.

According to Director Zhao Ming, the play retains most plots of the ballet classic and the music created by Tchaikovsky but is augmented with many unique acrobatic performances combined with ballet, such as "ballet in the air", "upside down ballet", "steel cable ballet" and "wheel chair ballet".

The first round performance of this play will have 20 shows in Shanghai.
