BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) Secretary-General Zhang Deguang said here Friday that peace, security and political stability in Kyrgyzstan are of vital importance to the stability in the Central Asia and the whole region of the SCO members.

"I would like to express deep concern over the current complex situation," Zhang told Xinhua.

"What important is to avoid the development of situation proceeding off the track of the country's constitution," he said, adding that it is also important to maintain public security and guarantee the country's peace and harmony.

The stability "is in the interests of the entire Kyrgyz people and also conforms to interests of all sides who hope to see the maintenance of peace and tranquillity in Kyrgyzstan," he said.

SCO has closely observed the evolution of the situation from the beginning, he said. As a SCO member state, the Kyrgyzstan has made important contribution to the establishment and development of SCO and played an active part in the multilateral cooperation with the SCO framework, said Zhang.

Founded on June 15, 2001, SCO, a regional cooperation organization, now has six member states, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Enditem
