MOSCOW, March 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said in Armenia on Friday Moscow will not object if Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev wants to go to Russia, according to the Interfax news agency.
"We will not object if Askar Akayev wants to come to Russia," Putin told reporters during a visit to Armenia.
The Russian president also said he was ready to cooperate with the Kyrgyz opposition.
The opponents in Kyrgyzstan started gathering after the Feb. 27 parliamentary election, alleging the poll was flawed. Rallies escalated after the March 13 run-offs, with opposition taking control of government buildings and airports in some southern regions.
Akayev left the White House, the seat of the government, before the protesters broke the security line and stormed into the building on Thursday.
There were confusing reports about the whereabouts of Akayev. Enditem |
