TALLIN, March 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Estonian Prime
Minister Juhan Parts officially announced Thursday at a press conference that
his government stepped down.
The Estonian government press office said Parts has
submitted resignation to President Arnold Ruutel.
On Monday, Parts announced his
resignation after the parliament passed a no-confidence motion against Justice
Minister Ken-Marti Vaher for his hardline anti-corruption program.
Vaher had proposed tough fight against corruption
among public officials that included fixed quotas for arrests, which triggered
resentment among coalition government members and the opposition.
Under the constitution, Ruutel will be given two
weeks to appoint a candidate to form a new government. Enditem
