ISLAMABAD, March 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistan Day was celebrated throughout the country Wednesday with military parade in Islamabad and other ceremonies to mark the 65th anniversary of Lahore Resolution passed by All India Muslim League on March 23, 1940.
Military parade was the special feature of the Day, which was held on the main street of Islamabad after a break of three years.
Contingents of Pakistan Armed Forces and Paramilitary forces took part in the march.
President Pervez Musharraf reviewed the parade and take salute,while Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Afghani President Hamid Karzai presented on the occasion.
Latest defence equipment being used by Pakistani Army, Navy and Air Force was displayed in the event.
A special investiture ceremony will also be held at President Palace in the evening where the recipients of awards to the officers of the armed forces and civilians for their excellent services in various fields.
On March 23, 1940, All India Muslim League passed Lahore Resolution, determining establish Pakistan as a homeland for Muslim. Pakistan set this day as its National Day. Enditem |
