UNITED NATIONS, March 23 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan deplored on Wednesday a new bombing attack in Lebanon and urged all concerned to do their utmost to safeguard the country's stability and national unity.

Three people were killed and three injured when a bomb explodedat a shopping center in a Christian district in Kaslik, north of Beirut, early Wednesday.

"The secretary-general was deeply disturbed to learn of yet another bombing in Lebanon," a UN spokesman said in a statement.

"The secretary-general calls on the government of Lebanon to bring to justice those responsible for such murderous attacks, and to prevent the situation from deteriorating," the statement said.

"He urges all concerned parties to do their utmost to safeguardLebanon's stability and national unity. The secretary-general believes strongly that the Lebanese people should be allowed to decide the future of their country peacefully and democratically."

The bombing came just one day before Annan will receive a report of the UN inquiry team on the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Enditem
