BEIJING, March.23 --The former winners included actress Charmaine She, Shirley Yeung and Mandy Chao, who talked about their experiences as Miss Hong Kong and called for beautiful girls to join the contest.

The annual Hong Kong beauty pageant, Miss Hong Kong Beauty Contest 2005, will be held on August 20th at the Coliseum, with the theme of "Beauty Begins from the Heart".

The contest has been revamped with the number of candidates increased from 20 to 40.

Twenty contestants will then be chosen for the final.

All the contestants will travel to South Asia's Sri Lanka and the Maldives later, to work as volunteer teachers in the tsunami-hit areas.
