BEIJING, March.22 -- With rising Chinese director Jia Zhangke's latest film "The World" collecting festival awards in Italy, Spain and France, the film's soundtrack is also being applauded.

The film's lead female character, Zhao Tao, announced she would formally launch a music career after the success of her debut single "The Night in Ulan Bator", which also appears on the film's soundtrack.

The actress turned singer describes herself as an ordinary dance teacher from southwest China's Shanxi province. Luck was on her side when director Jia Zhangke tried to find a female lead from her dance class.

The film "The World" will premiere around the world on April 8th.
