GAZA, March 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Mahmoud al Zahar, leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, argued on Saturday that peace negotiations with Israel are possible. "Negotiations with the Israeli occupation are not taboo, but the question is related to how and on what we negotiate," al Zahar said in an interview with the Qatar-based Al Jazeera satellite channel.
"If we know what we'll negotiate and how, then in the respect, the Movement would be ready to agree on a long-term truce withIsrael," added al Zahar.
Hamas was one of the 13 Palestinian factions that joined a dialogue in Cairo last week, during which a one-year cease-fire was declared.
Meanwhile, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas denied the rumors that Hamas would participate in the upcoming Algiers Arab summit. "I don't think that Hamas will participate in the Arab summit in the current time," said Abbas. Enditem
