BEIJING, Mar. 18 -- China has appointed Guo Shuqing, director of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, as the Communist Party secretary of the China Construction Bank.

The bank also said in a statement that Guo Shuqing's new assignment shows the high attention paid by the central Party to the bank's work.

Guo is also vice governor at China's central bank.

The CCB said Wednesday that its chairman Zhang Enzhao had resigned for personal reasons, after media reports that he was being investigated amid corruption allegations.
