BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhuanet) -- China's adoption of the Anti-Secession Law is for the country's territorial integrity and peaceful reunification, scholars of various countries said Tuesday.     

    The Anti-Secession Law does not imply that the Chinese government has given up its efforts for the peaceful reunification of the country. Neither does it target against the Taiwan people, Argentine expert on China Jorge Malena said.

    The professor of the Catholic University of Argentina noted that the approval of the law is Beijing's reaction to the pro-independence actions of the Taiwan authorities.

    The National People's Congress, China's legislature, on Monday passed the Anti-Secession Law.

    Argemiro Procoprio, professor at University of Brasilia, said China's adoption of the Anti-Secession Law is aimed at safeguarding territorial integrity and promoting peaceful reunification. It is China's sovereignty in which no other countries should interfere.

    Procoprio expressed appreciation of Chinese leaders' effort to solve the Taiwan question by peaceful means.

    He said China has successfully resumed sovereignty over Hong Kong and Macao in a peaceful way. He believed that China has the wisdom to solve the Taiwan issue and realize its peaceful reunification with the motherland.

    Singapore and Chinese scholars, academicians, entrepreneurs andstudents on Tuesday expressed their firm support for the law.

    Speaking at a symposium on the law held in Singapore, a dozen overseas Chinese participants agreed that the formulation and adoption of the law are both necessary and well-timed.

    They voiced understanding and support for the law, hoping that China will realize its peaceful reunification soon and maintain prosperity and stability. Enditem
