BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The newly-enacted Anti-Secession Law is not a war bill or a war mobilization order, said Xu Shiquan,a Chinese scholar on Taiwan issue, here Tuesday.

    "Separatist forces" in Taiwan had demonized the law by calling it a "war bill" in a scheme to agitate the Taiwan public to be against the Chinese mainland, said Xu, deputy president of the National Taiwan Studies Society (NTSS), at a press conference after the law was passed Monday at the third session of the 10th National People's Congress.

    "The Anti-Secession Law actually shows our sincerity of solvingthe Taiwan issue in a peaceful manner as it endeavors to facilitate cross-Straits relations and safeguard the prospects of peaceful reunification," he said.

    "Misunderstanding and doubt about the law by some Taiwan compatriots will gradually disappear if they go through the law earnestly," Xu said.

    The Anti-Secession Law is designed to turn Chinese mainland's policies and principles on the Taiwan issue into a law. It does not mean any change in the mainland's stance and policies on Taiwan issue, he said.

    Describing the law as "reasonable", Xu said, "those who do not work for Taiwan independence will not find the law a threat." Enditem
