BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The international community has continued to
express support to China's adoption of the anti-secession law, intended to
prevent the secession of Taiwan from China, and China's position on the Taiwan
issue.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ali Rodriguez said in a statement on Monday
that the adoption of the law will contribute strengthening ties across the
Taiwan Straits and also opening a channel for peaceful reunification through
direct talks between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.
The Uzbek government will consistently support China's positionon the
Taiwan issue and oppose any attempt for "Taiwan independence," the central Asian
country's Deputy Foreign MinisterI. Mavlanov said in Tashkent, the capital of
Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan insists that the government of the People's Republicof China is
the sole legitimate government of China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the
Chinese territory, Mavlanov added.
Lawmakers of Russia's State Duma, the lower house of parliament,spoke
highly of the newly-approved law on Monday, saying China hasthe right to
safeguard its territorial integrity.
China has the legitimate right to safeguard its territorial integrity due
to the international community's recognition of the country's sovereignty over
Taiwan, said Andrei Kokoshin, chairman of the Committee on Relations with the
Commonwealth of IndependentStates and Ethnic Russians in Other Countries.
The government of Comoros issued a statement on Monday in support of the
law adopted by the National People's Congress (NPC)of China.
Comoros supports the Chinese people in their effort to defend territorial
integrity and deems it as China's sovereignty to realize reunification, said the
statement.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) also expressedits support
for the newly adopted law.
"The adoption dealt a heavy blow to the forces seeking the secession of
Taiwan from China as it helped lay a legal framework for achieving sovereignty,
territorial integrity and peaceful reunification of the country," said a
spokesman of the DPRK
During a meeting on Tuesday with Chinese Ambassador to Serbia and
Montenegro, the country's Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic expressed his country's
full support for the adoption of the law and for China's stands on issues
related to Taiwan.
Also on Tuesday, Iraq's interim government expressed its support for the
anti-secession law. Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said the adoption of the law
demonstrates the opposition among Chinese people to any secessionist activities
in Taiwan.
The governments of Indonesia, Cuba, Venezuela, Dominica and Azerbaijan also
expressed their support for the law which was ratifies by the National People's
Congress, China's legislature, with an overwhelming majority and later enacted
by Chinese President Hu Jintao. Enditem |
