BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The international community has continued to express support to China's adoption of the anti-secession law, intended to prevent the secession of Taiwan from China, and China's position on the Taiwan issue.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ali Rodriguez said in a statement on Monday that the adoption of the law will contribute strengthening ties across the Taiwan Straits and also opening a channel for peaceful reunification through direct talks between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.

The Uzbek government will consistently support China's positionon the Taiwan issue and oppose any attempt for "Taiwan independence," the central Asian country's Deputy Foreign MinisterI. Mavlanov said in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan insists that the government of the People's Republicof China is the sole legitimate government of China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory, Mavlanov added.

Lawmakers of Russia's State Duma, the lower house of parliament, spoke highly of the newly-approved law on Monday, saying China hasthe right to safeguard its territorial integrity.

China has the legitimate right to safeguard its territorial integrity due to the international community's recognition of the country's sovereignty over Taiwan, said Andrei Kokoshin, chairman of the Committee on Relations with the Commonwealth of IndependentStates and Ethnic Russians in Other Countries.

The government of Comoros issued a statement on Monday in support of the law adopted by the National People's Congress (NPC)of China.

Comoros supports the Chinese people in their effort to defend territorial integrity and deems it as China's sovereignty to realize reunification, said the statement.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) also expressedits support for the newly adopted law.

"The adoption dealt a heavy blow to the forces seeking the secession of Taiwan from China as it helped lay a legal framework for achieving sovereignty, territorial integrity and peaceful reunification of the country," said a spokesman of the DPRK

During a meeting on Tuesday with Chinese Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro, the country's Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic expressed his country's full support for the adoption of the law and for China's stands on issues related to Taiwan.

Also on Tuesday, Iraq's interim government expressed its support for the anti-secession law. Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said the adoption of the law demonstrates the opposition among Chinese people to any secessionist activities in Taiwan.

The governments of Indonesia, Cuba, Venezuela, Dominica and Azerbaijan also expressed their support for the law which was ratifies by the National People's Congress, China's legislature, with an overwhelming majority and later enacted by Chinese President Hu Jintao. Enditem
