BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- China's top political advisors on Tuesday issued a statement to resolutely support the promulgation of Anti-Secession Law, the legal framework to prevent Taiwan's secession from the country.

The statement, issued by subcommittee for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the new law had far-reaching influence on promoting a peaceful reunification of China and maintaining stability on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

"The law legalizes the policy guideline of the central authorities on Taiwan, and gives full expression of China's consistent position to do its utmost with maximum sincerity for a peaceful reunification," the statement said.

It said the law won all supports from the committee and the members had pledged consistent efforts to promote personnel exchanges across the Straits, facilitate direct links of mail, shipment and air transportation between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, and strive for the prosperity of the country.

On Monday, The National People's Congress, China's legislature, passed the Anti-Secession Law with overwhelming votes. It was later enacted by President Hu Jintao's order. Enditem
