MANILA, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Two Abu Sayyaf leaders were killedafter the Philippine police and military Tuesday assaulted a prison where Abu Sayyaf inmates launched a riot.

According to the ABS-CBN news report from the prison in Bicutan,Taguig, Interior Secretary Angelo Reyes confirmed that Abu Sayyaf commander Alhamzer Limbong alias Kumander Kosovo and Habil Dellosa, both suspects in the Superferry 14 terrorist bombing in February 2004 which killed 130 people, have been killed in the assaults.

Two policemen who were wounded in the operation have been sent to hospital for medical treatment, the police said.

Director Avelino Razon, National Capital Region Police Office chief, said that ground forces controlled all four floors of the prison after driving the inmates with tear gas.

However, police and military troops are still conducting clearing operations after evacuating the inmates, he said.

During the earlier discussion, Secretary Reyes gave Abu Sayyaf inmates 15 minutes to surrender or face possible attack from police and military troops started at 8:50 a.m., but was refused.

Reyes said that the decision was made after all peaceful means to resolve the crisis had been exhausted.

At least 700 military and police troops have amassed outside the prison facility after Abu Sayyaf commander Kumander Kosovo andHabil Dellosa organized other Abu Sayyaf rebels in seizing controlof at least one floors. Enditem
