BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhuanet) -- An editorial to be published by People's Daily Sunday hails the closed annual session of China's top advisory body a "great success".
"This was a democratic, truth-seeking, united and morale-boosting meeting," says the editorial of the leading Chinese newspaper.
The meeting will contribute greatly to the work of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), to promotion of reforms, development and stability, and to advance of the cause of building a well-off society in an all-round way, it says.
The third session of CPPCC National Committee, which opened on March 3, concluded on Saturday afternoon in Beijing, China's capital city.
Members of the CPPCC National Committee reviewed the work of the CPPCC National Committee and discussed the government work report delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao at the opening of the annual session of the National People's Congress, the draft Anti-Secession Law and other important reports.
The editorial cites the CPPCC National Committee members as saying that the government work report is "truth-seeking, pragmatic and encouraging".
The editorial says the government advisors spoke highly of the four-point guidelines on cross-Straits relations set forth by President Hu Jintao and agreed that the formulation of the Anti-Secession Law is "necessary and timely", conforms to the common aspiration and will of the people and is in the fundamental interests of all the 1.3 billion Chinese people including 23 million Taiwan compatriots.
The CPPCC shoulders great responsibilities and stands at an important position in the course of building a well-off society in an all-round manner, it says. Enditem |
