
BEIJING, Mar. 10 (Xinhuanet)-- A senior Chinese
official says the Qinghai-Tibet railway is expected to become the world's most
famous plateau tourist route.
Wang Xiaoqing, mayor of Xining, the capital city of
Qinghai Province in west China, says it is the world's longest plateau railway,
stretching from Xining to Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, a
distance of 1100 kilometers.
The railway connects various famous resorts and
places of interest.
The structural work is almost finished and it is
scheduled to be put into use in 2007.
