Chechen rebel leader Maskhadov killed, Interfax

    MOSCOW, March 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Chechen rebel leader Aslan Maskhadov has been killed in a "special operation", the Interfax news agency quoted a military official as saying on Tuesday.

    Col. Ilya Shabalkin said Maskhadov was killed during a "specialoperation" in Tolstoy-Yurt, a village in north Chechnya. Enditem
