www.chinaview.cn 2005-03-05 02:31:38

BAGHDAD, March 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The Italian female journalist kidnapped in Baghdad a month ago has been released, Qatar-based al-Jazeera television reported on Friday.

Giuliana Sgrena was freed in Baghdad, the pan-Arab channel quoted unnamed sources as saying without disclosing further
details.

The 56-year-old woman was seized by unknown gunmen when she interviewed people near the Baghdad University on Feb. 4. She appeared on TV two weeks later, pleading for life and calling for withdrawal of Italian forces from Iraq.   Enditem
