Israel extends Palestinian prisoner detention
www.chinaview.cn 2005-03-03 21:38:42

RAMALLAH, March 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Israel has extended the administrative detention of a Palestinian prisoner for six months without explaining the reason, a Palestinian security source said Thursday.

Relatives of Essam Abu Arra in the West Bank city of Jenin said Abu Arra was held in the Negev desert detention center and suffering acute pains in his stomach and eyes.

His relatives called on humanitarian institutions to immediately interfere and press Israel to release him.

It was the fifth time Abu Arra, a sophomore of American Arab University in Jenin, was held in custody without any charge against him.

Israeli police sources said Thursday more than 150 Palestinian workers were arrested over the past three days for illegal stay in the green line.  Enditem
