BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Former Chinese ambassador to France Wu Jianmin
will give a press conference at 3 p.m. Wednesday,briefing journalists of the
arrangements and preparations for the Third Session of the Tenth National
Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC slated to
open on Thursday.
Wu serves as the spokesman of this year's CPPCC session.
Wu was born in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on March 30, 1939
and started to work in the Chinese Foreign Ministryin 1959 after graduating from
the Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages as a French major.
The veteran diplomat consecutively served as the director and spokesman of the
Foreign Ministry's Information Department, Chinese ambassador to the Netherlands,
Permanent Representative (Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador)
to the Unite NationsGeneva Office and other Switzerland-based international
organizations in the 1990s. He was appointed Chinese ambassador to
France in 1998.
He began to act as president of the Beijing-based Foreign Affairs
College and vice chairman of the Subcommittee of Foreign Affairs of the CPPCC
National Committee in 2003. He was elected chairman of the Bureau of
International Expositions in December 2003.
