Martial art fiction enters into text books
www.chinaview.cn 2005-03-02 09:23:12

BEIJING, Mar. 2 -- Selections from two classic martial art books have been entered into the fourth volume of a Senior High school Chinese text book.

The two selections are from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, by Wang Dulu and The Demi-gods and the Semi-devils, by senior Hong Kong writer Louis Cha, or Jin Yong.

The popular selections appear in two separate lessons of the text book under the category of "Magical Martial Arts".

The selections have been welcomed by many students and are praised by some teachers as a way to popularize traditional culture.

The suggestion to include Louis Cha's martial art sagas in text books began in 2001.

It aroused hot debate over the theme and taste of the books and the plan was abandoned.
