China opposes US's human rights reports: FM spokesman
www.chinaview.cn 2005-03-02 08:52:54

BEIJING, Mar. 2 -- China is demanding the United States stop interfering with China's internal affairs, following the release of the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices in 2004.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao says China strongly opposes the issues raised in the report which irrationally condemns human rights in China.

Liu Jianchao says the US has issued several reports of the kind, and they are not conducive to the improvement of Sino-US ties, or the strengthening of cooperation between the countries. He says the reports don't deepen understanding on the human right issue.

The spokesman adds the best way to solve disagreements over the human rights issue is for the two sides to strengthen dialogue on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
