STOCKHOLM, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Denmark will hold a
referendum on the new EU constitution on September 27, Prime Minister Anders
Fogh Rasmussen announced on Monday.
Rasmussen and opposition parties agreed on the date,
according to Danish news agency Ritzaus.
Danes rejected the EU's Maastricht
Treaty in 1992 and euro membership in 2000, but a recent opinion poll showed 49
percent ofDanes would back the new EU charter, with 26 percent against.
Rasmussen, who heads a center-right government, was
re-elected on Feb. 8. He said he would campaign for a Yes vote in the
referendum.
Spain voted for the constitution on Feb. 20, in the
first such referendum. Enditem
